A lot of people came to me and lamented over the courses they were offered to study in their various choices of universities because it was not their dream courses that they always wanted to study that was given to them.e.g Someone who applied chemical engineering and was given mathematics.
I asked them the reason why they were not happy or why they were lamenting, they said “this kind course money no go commot after you read am”. I smiled in my mind because I once thought like them but now I have grown up in thinking.
Let me start with this:
1. No course in the university is useless.
2. As a man thinketh in his heart so is he. (you will become what you think of yourself). Proverbs 23:7
3. Don’t mistaken your career for your purpose, they are two different things.
4. Remember your creator(Put God first in any thing you do and ask for his will)
5. Carry a positive mindset.
What ever course you were given in the university out of what you aspired to read should not make you think you will amount to nothing in life.
I have heard people say “this course wey dem give you sef, wetin you want use am do”, people who actually subscribe to that mindset will end up amounting to nothing because they carry a backward mentality, don’t you know you are a product of your mindset.
The question is, who told you that your destiny is tied to the course you read in the university? There is more:Except you are called to be a KINGDOM ACADEMIAN.
God’s plans for you are of good and not of evil.
Am I saying that you shouldn’t pursue your dream course? No. Please pursue it with all diligence if that’s what you want but when you find yourself outside of your dream course and you’ve tried all you could, don’t be discouraged.
The bible says he will bless the work of thy hands (be it chemistry, physics, history, fishery, biology or whatever that you read), he will bless it but you must back it up with all DILIGENCE AND HARDWORK.
Proverbs 22:29 – Do you see a man diligent in his work?He will stand before kings; He will not stand before obscure men.
AMP:The Lord shall open to you His good treasury, the heavens, to give the rain of your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hands; and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.
V13AMP: And the Lord shall make you the head, and not the tail; and you shall be above only, and you shall not be beneath.-this is Gods promise for your life.
Remember behind everything that works is a man working behind it. The birth of anything valuable is painful, you must be willing to pay the price.
I realized that most people who don’t get to read their dream courses in school usually end up as:
1. Being more failures because they take for granted the one that has being offered to them in school, paying less attention and thereby regretting later for not putting in hardwork.
2. Being distracted and depressed.
3. Thinking low of yourself (Low self Esteem).
4. feeling pain and regret.
My dear, whatever you find yourself doing, it takes stamina to be distinguished in it. Never laugh at anyone’s course because you feel yours is better than theirs. Remember to package your course with fervent prayers and hardwork, you will excel.
But I want to note it that – Failures are known and will always be known for excuses: I didn’t study the course I wanted, they was no one to help me, I didn’t this…., I didn’t that… are the common excuses we give for not leaving up to our potentials. No excuse for failure so always give in your best.
Unfortunately, Nigeria has made it look like some courses are more superior than others and the mindsets of people are being programmed like that. They’ve made it look like the moment you don’t read this course that is taken in very high esteem and regard (I’m sure you know those courses, I won’t mention them) you will become useless and that is a lie from the pit of hell.
Tribalism, religion and bribery is the order of the day and now a criteria for admission in Nigerian universities. May God help our universities.
This is just as an encouragement to my friends out there and don’t forget God’s promises for your life, profess it each day.
Be positive in everything.
May God help us all.
