The tendency of followers to copy the behavior of their leaders is phenomenal. Humans are designed in a way that they like to copy what others are doing.
The reality is that consciously or unconsciously, you are influencing someone’s behavior. It’s enough for a leader who knows he has influence on others behavior and decisions to act they way he will want them to act. Showing people how to do it is better and more powerful than telling them how to do it.
