“Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, ‘This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.’ Genesis 2:22–25
God created sex in a Christian marriage for us to have physical, spiritual, and emotional intimacy with our partners. This intimacy between man and woman was always designed to happen within a particular context. It wasn’t supposed to happen between just anyone, but between a man and a woman committed together in a covenantal relationship with God.
Sex is one of the most important aspect in a marriage. Initially, the love and attraction is what plays a crucial role in holding the relationship together, however, with time, sex becomes significant in ensuring the longevity of a relationship. Without any sexual activity, there will be everything but intimacy as sex play a role in increasing intimacy.
Sexual intimacy in marriage unites couples together. It is not only designed to bring God glory but also unites husband and wife in a one-flesh relationship.
