[ARTICLE] KEEPING YOUR HEART

Text: “Keep thy heart with all diligence: for out of it are the issues of life.” Prov 4:23

Women spend so much to protect their precious ornaments. High walls are built to protect houses to prevent intruders from coming in. Expensive cars are protected by all manner of security locks. These are things that have no eternal value. When a car is lost it can be replaced, it does not have any life-threatening consequence. If you misplace your necklace or earring of gold they can be replaced.

The tragedy of life is that there is a part of us that most times is left unprotected and exposed. The heart of man is the most important part of a man. Life is governed from the heart. We are not talking of the biological heart that pumps blood. But rather the psychological heart; the human mind. The heart and mind are used interchangeably in scriptures. Isa 26:3

The heart of man is the controlling center of a man and his life will always follow the direction of the heart. Whatever grows in your heart will show up in your life and become your experience. This is why we are admonished to keep our hearts with all diligence. It governs our entire life. Keeping the heart will involve allowing the word of God to dominate it. A heart that is empty of God’s word is open and vulnerable. It becomes a dumping ground for everything that is wrong. The content of the heart is actually what determines how the heart functions to channel the course of our lives. We must therefore be careful about what gains entrance into our hearts. Everything you read, watch and listen to feeds your heart with either right or wrong information. The content of the heart determines the quality of life, the purity of life, and the potency of life.

New Living Translation says “Above all else, guard your heart, for it affects everything you do.”

CONFESSION:
My heart is right to lead me right in life. My heart is guarded against every wrong intruder.
