There is no master formula to seek God, except when he chose to reveal or disclose himself to us. There is no amount of prayer or fasting or any spiritual exercise that can make God to show up when he has decided to hide. You can find God in fire, in earthquakes, in winds or storms, but he will still not show up. A lot of believers get stuck at this stage and felt that there is no God. Believers need to know how to navigate the God that can hide.
